The Somerset Patriots defeated the Portland Sea Dogs in game five of a seven-game series at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, N.J. on Friday by a score of 4-1.

Somerset pitching combined to allow no walks for the first time this season. Patriots pitchers Brock Selvidge and Danny Watson combined to retire 22 consecutive batters from the first through the eighth inning.

LHP Brock Selvidge (5.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 6 K) earned the win in his second start of the season with Somerset.

After allowing a leadoff home run in the first inning, Selvidge retired each of the remaining 17 batters he faced.

RHP Danny Watson (2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) picked up his fourth hold in his 19th appearance of the season.

Watson tossed his 12th scoreless outing of the season and his first since 6/1 vs. AKR.

LHP Ryan Anderson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) earned his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

DH Garrett Martin (3-for-3, R, RBI, 3B, SF) led the team with three hits, including a triple in the sixth, and drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.

LF Cole Gabrielson (1-for-2, 2 RBI, SF, BB) paced the team with two RBIs with an RBI double in the second and a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

RF Spencer Jones (1-for-4, K) made his first start and second appearance of his career in right field and reached base safely three time, scoring a run in the fifth inning.

Jones made his first appearance in right field since 5/31/24 vs. BOW where he began the game as a centerfielder and moved to right in the seventh inning. Jones has scored a run in each of his last five games, tied for the second-longest active streak in the Eastern League.

3B Dylan Jasso (2-for-4, R, K) singled and scored in the second, then tacked on another single in the eighth.

Jasso extended his on-base streak to 19 games, a stretch that began on 5/20 @NH over which he is 19-for-68 (.279/.372/.456) with 13 R, 19 H, 6 XBH (2 HR, 2 3B, 2 2B), 10 RBI and 7 BB. Jasso’s 19-game on-base streak is the fifth longest active on-base streak in the Eastern League. At the end of the game, Jasso is third in the EL in TB (99), tied for sixth in H (57), tied for seventh in R (33), tied for eighth in XBH (21), tied for eighth in RBI (33) and ninth in SLG (.481).
